Hello dear supporters - we have quite a bit of news to share.
Comings and goings related to Bonelli's eagle (Aquila fasciata) - one of our beautiful individuals was sent to join the breeding nucleus at Hai Bar Carmel Nature Reserve in the north of Israel. And we also received an injured individual. After veterinary treatment, he has joined our Birds of Prey Aviary.
A while ago, a white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) hatched in our Incubation Center (its parents live in the Ramat Gan Safari Park but all birds of prey eggs in Israel are brought to our Incubation Center to ensure optimal chances for hatching). Unfortunately this individual cannot be released into the wild and so it will join also join our Birds of Prey Aviary and possibly join a breeding nucleus in the future.
Two Griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) chicks which hatched in our Incubation Center were successfully raised in the nests of adoptive parent couples in our Birds of Prey Aviary. The adoptive parents then laid four more eggs, all of which are fertile!
So - a mix of stories, some of our efforts were successful and others, while not yielding the results we hoped for, are part of the ups and downs of wildlife conservation work. This is why it is so important to keep up our efforts and we could not do that without your support - thank you!
