Hello to you all,
Of the 9 vulture eggs we told you about in our last report, 8 hatched chicks were sent for release into the wild by the Israel Nature and Parks Authority. One chick was placed for fledging with a foster parent pair in our Birds of Prey Aviary to increase the genetic diversity within our breeding group.
Since we last reported to you, we received an addition two lesser kestrel eggs and all three hatched successfully. Once they reach adulthood, they will also be sent for controlled release into the wild in the north of Israel.
One vulture chick that reached adulthood (hatched from a previous batch of eggs) has been sent to Hai Bar Carmel Nature Reserve for release into the wild.
All in all, positive news from our Birds of Prey Incubation Center!
Thank you for your continued support of this very important wildlife conservation project.
Warmly,
The Avian Team at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo
