After five years of continuous war, millions of Yemenis are hungry, ill and acutely vulnerable. Twenty-five percent of the population, suffer from either moderate or severe malnutrition. This project aim to save lives 1,267 with severe malnutrition in Aslam district - Hajjah, through provision of transportation cost for relocating the severe cases to the nearest health facility for treatment, in line with rehabilitation 2 health facilities in the areas & building capacity of health workers
According to WHO in Yemen, the severity of suffering and unmet health & basic needs for vulnerable populations in Yemen are shocking, where 50% only of health facilities is functional. Our project will support & activate two health facilities in Aslam district, where 2,356 IDPs are living. Studies show that 1,267 boys and girls under 5 years suffer from either moderate or severe malnutrition, while the health system in the district is too weak to cope with the high burden of these diseases.
Through this project, Efadah organization will provide primary health care for children with moderate or severe malnutrition, through relocating the severe malnutrition cases to the nearest health facility for treatment, this is including rehabilitation & build a sustainable two health facilities in the areas, and trained 20 community health workers on nutrition and health care to mobilize and educate the affected population to act & reduce the morbidity & mortality related to food insecurity
The Project will Achieve the below Long-Term Outcomes/ Impact: a) Contributing to build two sustainable health facilities in order to delivering the primary healthcare and vaccination services for the targeted affected population in Aslam. b) 10,851 Individual living in the health facilities zone, especially pregnant, lactating women and children with moderate or severe malnutrition got access to healthcare services in the time of need
