Summary

A magnitude 6.4 RS earthquake struck Karnali Province in western Nepal on 3 November 2023, with several aftershocks occurring thereafter. The EQ affected more than 35,000 families homeless, more than 157 people dead, more than 400 wounded, several animals injured and dead, agriculture land damaged. The erosion and landslides occurs which affect road blockade. The affected families have no foods, clean drinking water, safety toilet and medicines. They live in open sky. The support is minimum.

Challenge

The devastating EQ not only damage personal house and properties but also damaged communities centre, school,drinking water sources,religious buildings,etc. The affected people live in open sky have no foods,clean drinking water, safety toilets and medical kits.In this time the cold season occurs in Nepal but the children,women and adults have no warm clothes.So that they are falling with common cold and havoc of diarrhoea but lacking medical kits.In such circumstances urgent support needed.

Solution

If the expected fund will be raised,the affected people will receive nutritious foods, clean drinking water facilities,medical kits,safety toilets and tarpolin for temporory shelter.Also there will be support for income generation activities support for long run sustainability of livelihood.Based on resources the no of people will be supported more. The sociopsycho counselling will also be carried out as the affected families are in deep shock and stress because of homeless and missing families

Long-Term Impact

As stated above the affected families will get rid of stress and shocks of devastating EQ through support on socaial preparation,motivation and socio counselling.Along with these,they will get nutritious foods,temporory shelter,medicines,clean drinking water facilities too. The temporory safety toilet will also be provided.For long run income generation program,the capacity building training,entrepreneurial support and technical backstopping support will also be provided enhancing livelihood.
