In Walikale, DR Congo, many pregnant women cannot afford safe childbirth. This project covers maternity costs in three local health centers, ensuring women receive skilled care before, during, and after delivery. Your donation helps mothers give birth safely, reduces maternal deaths, and protects newborns in one of the most underserved regions.
In Walikale, DR Congo, maternal health services remain out of reach for many women. Poverty, distance, and lack of resources force pregnant women to give birth at home without skilled care. This leads to preventable complications, infections, and maternal deaths. Health centers exist, but without financial support, women delay or avoid seeking care-putting both mother and baby at serious risk
This project removes the financial barrier to safe childbirth by covering maternity costs in three health facilities: Ndjingala Health Center, Sante Plus Health Center, and Croix-Rouge Maternity Post. Funds support prenatal visits, skilled delivery, emergency care, and postnatal follow-up. By making care accessible, more women choose safe facility births, reducing complications and saving lives.
Improving maternal health in Walikale creates lasting change. When mothers survive childbirth, families stay whole, children grow stronger, and communities become more resilient. Over time, increased access to safe delivery builds trust in healthcare services, reduces maternal and newborn mortality, and strengthens the entire local health system for future generations.
