New Update on Save Newborn Lives Campaign

By Baraa AlSharbaji | Fundraising Officer

More kindness and love and more work and giving are needed for the newborn babies at birth, and they find this in Al-Ekhaa Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

Thanks to Allah, SEMA managed with your contribution for this campaign to purchase a group of equipment and medical consumables with the purpose of expanding and enhancing the services provided in the neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the hospital; the purchased equipment and supplies included:

  • 3 devices for bacterial culture (laboratory incubator - carbon dioxide incubator - laminar air flow device).
  • 5 Oxygen-air Blender mixtures for NICU
  • 6 Medicine Infusion Pumps
  • 4 Syringe Pumps
  • 3 Neonatal cardiac monitors for NICU
  • 2 Rectal Monitor Sensors
  • Neonatal Transcutaneous Jaundice mete

In addition, other medical supplies, needed specifically for the ICU ventilators and incubators, were procured such as ventilator oxygen sensors and ventilation flow sensors and other supplies

Current number of beneficiaries in Al-Ekhaa Specialized Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital reaches 7500 women and children on monthly basis, and number of conducted deliveries is up to 18 deliveries per day.

The neonatal ICU section has been established and it contains 25 beds, among them, nine beds are for intermediate care and one for intensive care.

Once the purchased equipment and supplies are delivered to the hospital, the neonatal ICU section will be able to accommodate and provide the service for three newborn babies instead of one, and this will also enhance the quality of the specialized services offered to all the neonates, and consequently contribute to reducing number of referrals of critical cases to Turkey hospitals as they will be treated inside Syria.

Further updates and a report about the equipment will be shared with you once it is delivered to the hospital, Insha'Allah.

Your continuous support for this campaign will sustain the life-saving services for hundreds of neonates in one of the most suffering regions in the world.
