We are facing immediate EVICTION from our gym on Lesvos due to mismanagement from our previous landlord. We paid 2025 rent up front but this money is now lost due to the landlord's bankruptcy. We desperately need funds to place a rental deposit on a gym location and continue providing sport, solidarity and joy to our community on Lesvos.
Yoga and Sport with Refugees has existed since 2017 and we've operated our own gym on Lesvos since 2019. Due to circumstances outside our control, our previous landlord's property was repossessed by the bank and sold at auction. We are now facing immediate eviction from our current space without any prior notice, and are desperately searching for a new place to call home.
Funding this project will allow us to pay rent for 2025 and beyond, and help us relocate the gym to a new site. By opening the YSR gym again, we will continue offering daily sport classes to everyone: displaced individuals, locals, volunteers, and more! We strive for integration and inclusion in our space which has the only CLIMBING WALL on the island! We are also the only space which provides daily WOMEN ONLY sport activities!
The YSR gym on Lesvos will serve more than 2,000 monthly visitors who come to play sports, make friends and feel better both mentally and physically. Your contribution will turn this catastrophe into an opportunity; to improve our space, our offerings and the support we can offer our community. We will empower hundreds of women to begin their sport journey.
