The recent economic and political crisis in Haiti has closed roads, hospitals and schools for months. Rampant inflation and no jobs have left thousands of children without a home. These children end up on the streets or as indentured servants, sleeping on the ground without food and little hope for a future. Violetta and Tamara are two of these girls, without anyone to care for them. Help us take in these two girls and give them the hope that comes from shelter, food, love and an education.
Violetta's story is an all-too-common one in Haiti. Her mother couldn't find work or food and could not longer breastfeed when Violetta was just four months old. Desperate, alone and unable to care for her child, she abandoned her, hoping that someone else could find her food. A woman took Violetta in, but recently she was complaining of foot pain and died suddenly before someone could drive her to the hospital. Violetta is now 7 and has no one. She is in desperate need of a home.
Violetta and Tamara (who shares a similar story to Violetta) need a home. They are young and vulnerable to human trafficking, which is a real problem in Haiti where 60% of children live in extreme poverty. We provide a a stable home with a loving family for abandoned children. At the Vertile House, children get food, medical care, and the hope that comes with an education. Help us take in Violetta and Tamara and save them from the streets.
By taking in Violetta and Tamara, we stay true to our goal to keep children safe, ensure they get to have a childhood, and to give them the education and resources to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty. Giving these girls, and others like them, love, hope and support, empowers them to control their futures, turns them into leaders, and whittles away at the abusive systems that left these children without homes.
