Dear Friends,
It's been a really busy start to 2023, our CEO came to visit and did he get to see our team in action! Over the past quarter our regular donors and supporters allowed us to perform 20 sterilization operations daily with numbers doubled every Tuesday thank you to a local vet coming to volunteer their time.
This program is vital for us to try and manage the large number of cats and dogs homeless and on the streets of Mexico. We can only open the doors to our clinic daily because of the donations and support from you as we get no support from government or local authorities and unfortunately the cats and dogs we rescue don't have cash!
So why has it been a busy start to 2023? We are not sure but good news it started off with a kitten being adopted by a couple that came to Mexico on holiday, visited our centre and fell in love with one of our kittens. They are currently in the process of the paperwork to take her back to Canada for her new life and we are so happy!
Another early start and on our way into the clinic we found Chabela, a stunning little black puppy left in a box on the doorstep, our team got quick to work as she was extremely malnourished with a corneal ulcer that needed expensive drops and care to save her eye. We have since raised $300 for this medication but we need another $300 to fund it then need support to care for her and provide her food as she is going to be with us a little while now. It was only a couple of days and then we couldn't believe it was another drop off but this time it was Andrea who had her leg cut off possibly with a machete. The remaining part of the leg was amputated and she is now recovering but we need to cover the cost of her surgery which was around $400.
As well as this hectic week the other day a cat with 4 kittens was left outside the clinic and again our amazing team jumped into action but it was very sad that the mother passed away, we are now looking after the kittens and bottle feeding them and they are showing good signs of a healthy future.
It's been a busy year and we are not even 1 month in! The world of cat and dog rescue is so unpredictable and as you can see donations are critical for us to survive and not turn these urgent cases away. We thank you for being a part of the solution in Mexico and remember if you ever are in the area we would love to see you!
Thank You,
Laura, Tyrone and the whole Action Change Team
