Hello Supporters!
Can you believe it has been 3 months since we last spoke !We are excited to share an update on the impactful project you generously supported. Your contributions are making a significant difference in the lives of stray dogs and cats in Playa del Carmen.
Like many cities in Mexico, Playa del Carmen faces issues related to stray animals, cruelty, abandonment, and negligence. Stray dogs and cats roam the streets, often suffering from hunger, disease, and mistreatment. Over the past 3 months not 1 week went past without an abandoned animal left on our doorstep, although we are not setup as a rescue centre our team don’t like turning an injured animal away so we are now bursting with cats and dogs that urgently need feeding and re-homed so we have had to use donations on this too, which takes away from our focus on the spray and neuter program but we have no choice!
Education and Awareness Programs: By educating the community about responsible pet ownership, we raise awareness about the importance of caring for animals. Spay and Neuter Programs: Our permanent low-cost or free spay/neuter initiatives help control the population of stray animals. Thanks to your support, we’ve conducted educational workshops, reaching both adults and children across the community over the past 3 months. Community members now understand the impact of their actions on animal welfare and we are slowly seeing a slight shift in behavior to pets, great news!
Our spay and neuter programs have been successful in reducing the number of stray dogs and cats. Fewer animals face the hardships of life on the streets. Every Tuesday we spray a minimum of 50 animals and then around 10 every other day of the week as we have free vet appointments the other days for those families with pets but can’t afford the medical costs.
Thank you for being part of this transformative journey. Together, we’re creating a safer, more compassionate environment for animals in Playa del Carmen.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Lloyd
