The New Clinic is Breaking Records!

Dear Supporters,

The clinic that was recently opened in Playa del Carmen is open, running and breaking records already and we couldn't be more excited!

So far after the official opening on 7May, the numbers of people and animals that we have been able to assist seems very optimistic and indicates that it was definitely a great investment to build the new clinic.

More Space

This new clinic gives more space with specific activities and procedures in each room. We are now able to keep the cats and dogs separate which is a big improvement from our old clinic. Previously we had to keep them together while they were recovering from anaesthesia after their surgeries. The benefits of separating the cats and dogs is huge, it prevents fights and the stress that they can cause each other.

Even the people seems happier, now they have a place to register their pets without seeing the animal in recovery after surgery or without blocking someone’s way. There is enough space for people and animals.

The coco’s personnel have commented that thanks to this new clinic everything works much better!

Record Breaking Numbers

One of the biggest benefits is the impact on capacity. The Coco's staff can now attend to so many more animals each day. We have already had a record breaking 40 animals attended to in 1 day! This is double the numbers from the old location. This was not possible at the old clinic, which was an old house in an out of the way location, due to a lack of space for both the animals and the people. It also makes a dig difference that we are now located in a central, downtown location, which makes the clinic much easier to access.

Some numbers

  • During their first month, they received 397 animals
  • In the first half of June, they have helped 391 animals
  • More kittens have been part of the healthy kitten program and during May we helped 60 kittens
  • In the first half of June, we have helped 62 kittens already

This really is an amazing investment and it is going to make a huge difference to the welfare of animals in Playa del Carmen!

Thanks for your support which has helped to make the dream of a new clinic a reality.

With Gratitude,

GVI Mexico
