Almost 50 children die everyday in road crashes in India. Most of these fatalities happen while a child is around school or on the way there. No child should have to risk their life to get an education, and no family should have to suffer the devastating loss of these young lives. SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF) is working on the ground in India to prevent road fatalities, particularly among the most vulnerable including children. Make a gift today to protect children and make India's roads safer!
Road traffic crashes are the leading cause of death in young children. India is home to the world's deadliest roads: in 2018, 43 children died everyday in road crashes and over 38,000 road crashes took place near schools. On top of this, there is low awareness of this issue among the general public and a lack of child safety measures being taken on roads. This is fuelling a crisis of children being virtually invisible on India's roads and being exposed to fatal, preventable risks everyday.
In 2019, SLF helped pass India's new Motor Vehicle Act with specific statutes to protect children from road crashes. With your generosity, we can keep acting on these protections by: 1) making children and school buses more visible on roads through reflective equipment, 2) teaching children and their parents about wearing seat belts and other life-saving practices, 3) training school bus drivers on safe driving techniques, and 4) training teachers and community first responders on first aid.
Every child has the right to go to school without fear of being harmed. We are protecting this right by transforming roads around schools into safer spaces and bringing positive change to public attitudes and behaviours. Through your donation, YOU can help prevent thousands of children from being victims of road crashes in India every year AND build a compelling case for local governments to take our solutions on and save many lives for generations to come.
