Saving over 2000 stray dogs per month in Ahmedabad

Our team recently received a dog nmaed Lalu in an extremely critical condition. Lalu was weak, struggling with mobility, and visibly suffering. Upon medical examination, the dog was diagnosed with a large tumor that was severely affecting its health and overall quality of life.

A decision was made by our vet team to proceed with a surgery to remove this huge tumor. The operation was challenging, but our veterinary team successfully removed a 2.7kg(5.95lb) tumor, which had been the root cause of Kalu’s suffering.

Following surgery, Kalu was provided with comprehensive post-operative care, including medications, balanced nutrition, and continuous monitoring. Each passing day he regained strength, appetite, and activity levels. The transformation was remarkable—what was once a weak and struggling animal became active, alert, and playful again.

After full recovery, Kalu is now healthy and ready for release. This successful case highlights the importance of timely veterinary intervention and dedicated care. With skill, compassion, and proper medical attention, even critically ill animals can be given a second chance in life.

Rescued from the Road: A Tar-Covered Dog’s Journey to Recovery

During ongoing road construction, a dog accidentally fell into hot tar, unknowingly sealing himself in a layer of hardened asphalt. By the time he was brought to Jivdaya Charitable Trust, the tar had solidified into a thick, rock-like crust, tightly stuck to his skin.

His condition was critical—not only because of the chemical burns and discomfort but also due to the risk of skin damage if the tar was removed forcefully. Our veterinary team immediately began a slow and delicate treatment process, using baby oil and other safe lubricants to soften the tar without hurting him.

Each day brought a small victory, though the journey was far from easy. Every night, the kennel walls and floors were stained black with melted tar falling from his body—a visible reminder of the struggle he endured and the patience it required to help him heal.

After days of careful treatment, the last trace of tar was removed, revealing clean, healed skin beneath. Once fully recovered, he was joyfully returned to the area where he had been rescued. The moment he stepped out of our care and back into his familiar surroundings, his happiness was unmistakable—tail wagging, eyes bright, finally free.
