Dear Donors and Well-Wishers,
Greetings!
We are delighted to share the encouraging progress of our Scholarship Programme for Girls with Blindness.
With your generous support and encouragement, the programme has now reached 28 girls with blindness who are pursuing higher education and working towards a brighter and more independent future. We are especially happy to share that this year we have added 12 more girls to the scholarship programme.
Your valuable financial assistance is helping these young women overcome barriers and continue their education with confidence and dignity. For many of them, this support is not merely a scholarship—it is an opportunity to pursue their dreams, develop their potential, and build a secure and independent future.
We are delighted to share the inspiring story of Alka, a young woman whose determination and courage are helping her turn challenges into opportunities.
Alka was born with congenital blindness into a modest family in Gujarat. Her father earns a livelihood as a small fruit vendor, while her mother is a homemaker. When Alka was born, her parents and relatives were deeply worried about her future. Like many families facing such circumstances, they feared that her blindness would make her dependent on others and that she might become a burden on the family.
Despite these fears and financial difficulties, Alka’s parents raised her with immense love, care, and affection. However, they never imagined that she would be able to pursue higher education and build an independent future for herself.
Alka proved everyone wrong. With determination and hard work, she completed her Class 12 examination with good marks. But her journey was far from easy. Pursuing higher education required her to move forward in a bigger city like Ahmedabad, which brought additional financial and personal challenges. Her parents were unable to support the expenses of her higher education, and for a moment, Alka was forced to put her dreams on hold. She considered dropping out and waiting for an opportunity that could help her continue her studies.
That opportunity came in the form of a scholarship programme. When Alka learned about the scholarship, she applied with hope and determination. Her application was selected, and she received financial support to continue her education until the completion of her graduation.
Today, Alka is in the third year of her graduation, studying languages. The young girl whom many once believed would remain dependent on her family is now working hard towards becoming independent and achieving her dreams. Her ambition is to become a college professor and inspire many other young people, especially persons with disabilities, to believe in their own potential.
Alka’s journey is a powerful reminder that disability should never be seen as an inability. With the right opportunities, encouragement, and support, persons with disabilities can overcome barriers and achieve their dreams.
For Alka, the scholarship is much more than financial assistance—it is a bridge between her difficult past and the bright future she is determined to create.
We sincerely express our heartfelt gratitude to all our donors and well-wishers for your trust, generosity, and continued support. Your contribution is creating a meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of these talented and determined young women.
Thank you for believing in their dreams and for being an important part of their journey towards education, empowerment, and independence.
With sincere gratitude and warm regards,
