Due to numerous socio-cultural obstacles, female education in Pakistan continues to have considerable difficulties affecting their personal growth, socioeconomic development, and empowerment. The gender-biased approach and male dominancy have severely affected women's contributions to a sustainable and empowered society. AWARD aims to support young girls with disadvantaged backgrounds in three districts of Punjab in completing their higher education through the provision of scholarships.
In Pakistan, due to the gender gap, lack of safety and security, lack of Infrastructure and resources, societal discrimination, and cultural barriers, many girls find it challenging to attain a higher education. Culturally defined roles for men and women (as well as boys and girls) have imposed a number of challenges to girls' rights to education and work. Without equal access to education for girls and boys, it is difficult to achieve Integrated Development, Gender equality, and World peace.
100 girls from Districts Sahiwal, Okara, and Faisalabad will receive financial and moral support from AWARD through this project while they finish their higher education for their long-term development at different famed public and private universities. The project also involves engaging female students at the school level who are pursuing secondary education in any field through financial assistance and moral support to complete their education and pursue their dreams.
a) The girls will be promoting gender equality by challenging traditional gender roles and stereotypes. b) more likely to participate in decision-making processes, have better access to resources, and play an active role in society, leading to more equal opportunities and rights for women in all spheres of life. c) The girls have better job prospects and income-earning potential, leading to increased economic stability for themselves and their families.
