With this report we strive to provide our donors with updated information concerning developments within our program "Acceder Estudiando" with a special focus on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
COVID-19 had a considerable impact on us as an institution and above all the already vulnerable families we are working with.In spite of these adverse circumstances, Mujeres 2000 was able to maintain its stability: once again, the cooperative spirit of all people involved with the NGO has been proven. In order to identify the specific needs of our beneficiaries, we monitored and adapted to a changing working environment and worked to accompany the families we support to the best of our ability. Apart from the type of support, we also necessarily had to consider the form of its transmission, for example regarding the families access to wifi.
Within our program "Acceder Estudiando" as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the measures taken by the Argentine government – a strict quarantine since 20thof March – our students attend virtual classes. We aligned our activities through - among other possibilities - virtual individual tuition, support classes and workshops.
Furthermore, in March we added a new group of scholarship recipients to our program. These twelve students receive a monthly payment of 4,200 ARS (USD 60), and are accompanied by an individual academic tutor and additionally are offered support classes. In total – having integrated these new scholarship recipients – we are providing 38 scholarships this year, implying a total monthly financial support of 170,000 ARS (USD 2,450).
In order to guarantee our scholarship recipients an education that goes beyond their specific university studies, we offer - in cooperation with companies - additional workshops to our students. For example, workshops that focus on soft skills related to job placement. Even though the current circumstances entail certain limitations to us as NGO, we work on maintaining already established alliances with companies and, after an adjustment phase in the very beginning of quarantine, continue creating new alliances.
