10 KMs away from Salt Range, Dera Jaat Jethal is poor vicinity in Pakistan which was not having a single school. SDA a local NGO having limited resources, constructed a school where education is free. 185 children are enrolled. Due to environmental changes the hill torrents of Salt Range are very frequent and the school is severely damaged and declared dangerous. For continuity of education at safer place new building resistant to flood must be constructed before the next monsoon Jun-Jul 2018.
Children of the vicinity were not able to study as there was not a single school. SDA build a school at land provided by the poor community but unfortunately the altitude was lower. Intensity of flash floods of nearby Salt Range is increasing every year and they hit and damaged severely the school building. Children are studying in dangerous conditions and there are chances that in next monsoon rains, Jun-Jul 2018 the school building will be damaged more and 200 children will not be studying.
New building of school resistant to hill torrents of nearby salt range will be constructed at the land having relatively high altitude. A Civil Engineer was invited who surveyed the surrounding land of the vicinity and recommended the suitable land to better able to counter the existing problem. SDA mobilized the land owner and he has donated it for this new building. If the project is completed before Jun-Jul, Children of this poor community will be getting free education at safe place.
Illiteracy rate of the community is very high. Poverty and non availability of school within the vicinity are the main causes. School will provide free quality education at elementary level. Educated new generation will play effective role to bring positive changes in the community. They will be better agriculturist and new economic alternatives will also be brought in the community. An educated, economically prosper and peace loving community will be evolved.
