Summary

This project aims to raise enough funds to support the one-year educational expense of 1000 underprivileged children living in the backward area of Chakra Goth, Korangi, Karachi. These children are studying at Al-Mustafa Academy, a project of Al-Mustafa Welfare Society. Our students included orphans and children belonging to poor families and were denied quality education due to their economic and/or social circumstances.

Challenge

As per the findings of UNICEF, Pakistan has the world's second-highest number of out-of-school children (OOSC) with an estimated 22.8 million children aged 5-16 are not attending school (representing 44% of the total population of this age group). The political and economic crisis, weak infrastructure, unavailability of government schools or very few government schools in thickly populated areas, poorly-functional and ghost government schools, un-awareness and poverty have led to this crisis.

Solution

Al-Mustafa Academy is one of the 15 schools established and managed by Al-Mustafa Welfare Society in Pakistan. This academy strives to provide quality school education to the underprivileged children of the underdeveloped area of Chakra Goth in Korangi, Karachi. This academy was established in 2017 and is equipped with science and computer labs, a library, sports and other facilities. Currently, we have 1000 students (including orphans) who are studying from the playgroup to grade 9th/10th.

Long-Term Impact

The long-term effect of educating children can never be summarised as it is most essential investment a society can make. By getting a quality school education, these children can explore new opportunities for further studies and eliminate their current state of poverty with a greater sense of discipline, productivity & critical thinking. Will be able to understand better the importance of healthcare & other social issues such as racial, gender & economic inequality
