It is so neat to find children who think of others before thinking of themselves. During this past holiday season, a group of 6 and 7 year old kids got together to create hygiene and school supply kits for children in Mombasa, Kenya. Each hygiene kit contains items such as: shampoo, a towel, nail clippers, soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes. The school supply kits container items such as notebooks, pencils, pens, scissors, a ruler, glue, crayons, etc.
What was so beautiful about the children making the kits is that they did it selflessly, purchasing items using their little savings, tooth fairy money and allowance money. They shopped with their parents and proudly brought all their donations to a Christmas party where they played games and ate cupcakes prior to filling bags. As they filled the bags, it was neat hearing them talk about what they were grateful for: parents, schools, toys, water, electricity, and food. Helping other children certainly made helped them concentrate on what they were grateful for!
The kids in the pictures here are some of the ones who will be receiving these kits - as orphans, they value this type of gift very much, as they don't have a way to purchase the items themselves. Thanks for all the kids who decided to share of themselves during the holidays to help others!
