Dear Project Supporters,

We are happy to bring you another project report to update you on SESSO's operations and new things in the works!

Current Student Updates

  • Our four students have been doing very well. During the Move a Million campaign, we were able to visit with them via Zoom and allow them to share their stories with our generous donors and get exposure to more people who may not know much about SESSO.
  • All 4 students have begun their school year this year, and SESSO has paid for their entire 2024 school year. Three of our students are now in 11th grade, and one of our students is in 9th grade.

Upcoming - Scholarship Application Completion and Conducting Interviews:

  • Because of the immense generosity of our donors, as well as the generosity of GlobalGiving via their matching campaigns, SESSO is able to add at least 2 more students that we feel confidents we will be able to support through 12th grade. We are in the process of developing a formal application and outlining the process by which we select our scholarship recipients. Previously, our scholars were selected based on community leader input and personal verification processes with the children's guardians. However, the process will become slightly more intentional, taking into account the students' desire to work hard and make a difference not only in their personal future, but in the future of their fellow South Sudanese citizens and in the future of their country.
  • We will keep supporters informed as this process unfolds, and we will be excited to introduce our new scholarship recipients soon!

Thank you for taking this journey with us. None of this would be possible without you!
