Thanks to your generous support, the Food Bus Project has continued to provide vital support to children and families during the autumn and winter months, a time when the gap between term-time provision and school holidays can place real pressure on households. Our families are struggling as costs of food and fuel continue to rise, whilst harsh whether conditions prevent families from getting to the shops - that's where we come in!
Through 80 Food Bus stops, we supported families to access affordable, nutritious food close to home, helping parents stretch their budgets and ensure children could continue to eat well outside of school hours. Alongside this, we delivered Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) sessions during the Halloween period, serving 100 meals and welcoming 40 children and their families.
Our HAF sessions combine food provision with nutritional education, giving children the chance to take part in cooking workshops, learn about ingredients, and build confidence around healthy eating. Activities such as pumpkin carving helped create a positive, engaging environment where children could learn, play and feel supported.
The Food Bus team also took part in a local primary school Christmas fair, serving healthy, home-cooked daal to around 50 children and family members, reinforcing the importance of nutritious, affordable food within the school community.
As winter continues, we are now preparing for our December Kids Clubs, ensuring children who rely on free school meals continue to receive healthy food, learning opportunities and supportive spaces throughout the festive break.
Thank you for making this work possible. Your support helps us bridge the gap between term time and holidays, support families on the Food Bus, and equip children with the knowledge and access they need to eat well.
If you’re able to continue supporting this project, further donations will help us reach more children and families through the winter months and beyond.
