My name is Faida, I am 14 years old.
In February 2023, there were combats between the national army and rebels in my region (Sake). People from Sake and the surrounding villages fled.
We walked running away from the sound of guns. At some points we heard an explosion and all run to take shelter. With 4 other girls and a boy, we found ourselves in the national parc, where we found armed men who said they would protect us. They then asked the boy to leave and raped us then abandoned us.
In the morning, we had to keep moving and found out displaced people and all went to a camp.
A short while after, I found out I was pregnant. It was unbearable for me and so I kept it a secret.
The head of the camp recommended me and other young people to children’s voice for vocational trainings. It was hard at first, I was ashamed of my pregnancy but with the support of the social worker, I’m still going.
I love it when we all sit and sing/dance and play the drum, it makes me happy.
At the end of my training, I want to open my own hair salon, make money to support me and my child. My child will never know their father but I’ll be there for them.
