Summary

Roshni Homes Trust is collaborating with Science Fuse on a 1 year long science education program for children 6 to 12 to learn scientific thinking. Program includes 4 modules/year, each lasting 8 weeks and will enhance their learning through custom curriculum + hands on practical science experiments. This collaboration will also train education staff as science educators providing relevant material & knowledge, which will result in running this program for future kids at Roshni Homes Trust.

Challenge

Pakistani schools are producing unacceptably low levels of learning outcomes in math's & science, a stark reality which represents a significant and deep-rooted challenge to Pakistan's economic growth. Moreover, it is a social injustice that millions of children from underserved communities in Pakistan lack access to good quality science education, from reaching their full potential as future scientists, researchers leading to better career opportunities and national prosperity.

Solution

A year-long collaboration between & Roshni Homes Trust & Science Fuse will enhance the quality of science education for 6 - 12 year old's & will equip our teachers with tools & resources to make learning science an engaging, hands-on & relevant experience for students. Science Fuse will curate an all-year round, hands-on science club for children & share quality science educational learning materials while developing science communication, leadership, and pedagogical skills of our caretakers.

Long-Term Impact

Research suggests that good quality science education is directly linked with social mobility, especially for those who come from underserved communities. Increased scientific literacy among students contributes to them being better global citizens, improves social consciousness, & helps children reach their full potential. Students will use the knowledge and skills from this program to understand the world around them & excel, not only in STEM fields but whatever careers they may choose.
