Giving Girls A Voice

By Homa Kombo and Sher Betz-Cooper | Field Coordinator and Treasurer

Fati and Nafissa are incredibly bright and ambitious girls starting 8th grade at Hampaté Bâ School this October.

Many of our sponsored girl students live in houses with no electricity or running water. The families have no reliable source of income. Parents struggle to earn enough money for rent and food, and the future of their children, especially daughters, is uncertain.

Despite these hardships, thanks to a high-quality education at Hampaté Bâ, girl students are able to learn in an environment that cares for them and is designed to nurture their human qualities and academic abilities.

Fati and Nafissa are passionate about empowering women and girls in their family and community. Their Home Economics classes taught them the importance of giving women a voice, and so they decided to display inspirational quotes and pictures of women from across the globe that are making their mark on society. “Whenever we get a chance, we tell women and girls in our community about their rights and that they should not consider themselves as second class citizens,” said Fati.

Imagine the exciting future for Fati and Nafissa as they proudly acquire a high-quality education ! Thanks to your donations, these girls will now have the chance to make choices about their future. By contributing and being part of their journey, you are opening a whole new world full of possibilities to them. Your donations really count and let them develop their potential as women. We Thank you !
