AlgomaTrad is a charitable heritage arts organization in rural Northern Ontario dedicated to learning, creation and sharing. This project helps secure our future by allowing us to purchase the leased site and close an unexpected funding gap for essential infrastructure, including new septic system, upgrading to 3-phase power, improving landscaping for accessibility, climate resilience, and permaculture, and laying the foundation for a performance/dance hall with workshop and studio space.
Our lease is ending and we have the opportunity to purchase the 50-acre AlgomaTrad Centre site. Also, we are experiencing unexpected expenses for crucial infrastructure and site development due to rising construction costs, supply issues, and the challenge of obtaining essential services in a northern rural setting.
Owning our site will be a critical milestone, unlocking future funding opportunities and a necessary step in our growth and development. Completing the 3-phase electrical upgrade, septic system, essential landscaping, and the foundation for our new dance/performance hall is imperative to ensuring AlgomaTrad's future. We have a DOLLAR-TO-DOLLAR MATCH for this campaign! Every dollar raised will be matched by a group of generous supporters, making this an incredible and decisive opportunity.
Since 2004, AlgomaTrad has inspired over 25,000 people of all ages through camps, concerts, dances, and workshops that spark creativity, build skill and foster connection. As the center grows, more of these multi-generational programs will reach more people. The impact ripples beyond individual enrichment. AlgomaTrad cultivates inclusive community, supports artists, boosts local tourism, and plants seeds for a thriving, resilient future.
