The project aims to uplift the marginalized status of women in our male-dominated society. It also seeks to address the various challenges faced by women, such as unemployment and lack of skills, particularly in the remote rural areas where the EACD organization operates. To achieve these goals, the project will provide sewing, embroidery, and Handy Crafts training to the beneficiaries.
Women and girls receive significantly less education compared to men, primarily due to societal norms and concerns about violence. Additionally, women face unequal access to resources, and legal protection of their rights often proves ineffective against prevailing patriarchal traditions. In many marriages, women are subordinate, and their rights to inheritance are frequently limited and violated.
As a result, grassroots-level individuals have initiated social mobilization programs to address the challenges faced by women and girls working in insecure conditions in rural and semi-urban areas. During these meetings, several issues were identified and potential solutions were proposed. Some of the key concerns raised include: 1. Low wages 2. Excessive working hours 3. Long distances from their homes 4. Instances of harassment 5. Discrimination based on religion, ethnicity and lack of skills
"230 low-income and unskilled females from the outreached areas of Faisalabad will benefit directly from this program, enhancing their skills within two years. These direct beneficiaries will not only start earning in a secure environment with dignity, but they will also have the opportunity to transfer their acquired knowledge and skills to other women and girls in need within the same areas.
