Dear Valued Partner:
Thank you for making a difference to 1,500+ mothers in rural Kenya who support an additional 7,500+ children. With your assistance, 4 women's communities in Meru County, Kenya received iron and zinc fortified bean seeds which were planted in time for the March-May rains. Women in the Community Garden Program rely on the rain to feed their gardens.
Bean seeds are a staple crop in Kenya because they are a source of protein, minerals and vitamins. They are grown for their leaves, pods and dry seeds. Beans are the most widely grown legume in Kenya second to maize in importance as a staple food.
You made it possible for the distribution of biofortified bean seeds that are especially high in iron and zinc. These seeds will lower the prevalence of anemia and stunted growth. They will also boost the immune system to prevent illness.
We remain sincerely grateful for your support!
