Happy New Year! 2017 was an incredible year for the girls at our Seed of Hope Programme and we have been humbled by the generosity of people like you who have made this possible.
Your support is as valuable as ever as we continue to equip and empower disadvantaged girls with skills for self-reliance as they go out to transform their lives through employment or self-employment.
Every year at Seed of Hope begins with a lot of activity as the second year students continue their studies. The teaching team are also working hard to enrol new students through our outreach program, which identifies and prepares disadvantaged young girls for Seed of Hope.
We recently had a surprise visit at our Nairobi office from two Seed of Hope graduates, Pauline and Margaret. Way back in 2010 the two girls met during their dressmaking course at the Seed of Hope Centre in Nairobi and been friends ever since.
Hard work, determination and their new skills and confidence have meant that the girls have had great success. Pauline is now a business owner. She initially found work in a shop, saved hard for four years and was able to establish her own boutique where she now sells both new and second hand clothes.
Margaret has worked her way up from tea girl to marketer a real estate company and still uses her dressmaking skills to make and repair clothes, which provides an additional income. Margaret has been able to provide for not just her two children but also secure an education for her younger sister who graduated high school in 2017.
Like so many of our graduates Margaret and Pauline have been able to rise beyond their vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds to become confident, successful young women who are the backbone of their communities.
It is because of you and your continued support that we are able to transform the lives of even more girls. Thank you.
