Thank you for investing in young women and girls

International Women's Day 2024

Dear esteemed supporters,

Today, on International Women’s Day, 8th March, we proudly celebrate the achievements of all women and girls, our female Seed of Hope leaders, teachers, and trailblazing students as we unite to uplift and accelerate progress for women’s equality and well-being in all aspects of life.

Thank you for supporting Raising Futures Kenya’s Seed of Hope programme, contributing to closing gender gaps in vocational education in Kenya through targeted actions in support of young women and girls. By ensuring quality education for all, and equipping all our students with skills for employment, self-employment, or further education, together we are enabling opportunities for a brighter future.

We are delighted to share with you a momentous achievement at one of our three centres, Seed of Hope Nairobi - the official launch of our new building which took place 2 weeks ago on 23rd February. This joyous occasion coincided with the graduation day of 276 young people including 142 young women and girls, each successfully completing their courses and stepping into the next chapter of their lives. The event was a wonderful celebration with all the students, graduates and teachers, and key partners together, including our dedicated alumni. Notable guests, including representatives from the Ministry of Education and influential networks, added prestige to the celebration.

The building provides an improved learning environment, space for additional courses and student places, adds value to our work and to the community, and was beautifully dedicated to the future of each and every person who will walk through the gate! A symbol of hope, of so much achievement made and of what is to come.

One of the highlights of the day was an inspiring address from an esteemed alumni, who is now a high court prosecutor. She shared a powerful analogy: "Bamboo trees take 5 years to grow above the ground, but then grow incredibly quickly... Seed of Hope teaches us to be like bamboo. It shows us that if we are patient, our time is coming."

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for being an integral part of the growth and success of these remarkable young women. Empowering girls isn't just about giving them wings; it's about reminding them they have the power to soar. Your unwavering support remains the driving force behind the positive impact we make in their lives. Thank you for your continued commitment to Raising Futures Kenya.

With every best wish from Florence and the Raising Futures Team
