Dear Donors & Well Wishers,

Greetings from BPA India!!

I hope this progress report will find you in Great Health and Spirit.

I must say our organisation has played a very significant and important role in the second wave of Covid 19. The second wave of covid 19 was more dreadful than the first wave. It was a really difficult time for us. This time, our employees and frontline workers were also affected and hospitalized for treatment purposes. Unfortunately, we lost our two senior employees due to covid 19, and others are very well recovered on time after few days of hospitalization.

Our project team did not stop working even in the second wave of Covid 19, and we have had distributed around 38,789 Ration kits to poor families of people with disabilities in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Odhisa. During the second wave of Covid 19, our hospital team was on call for providing services to the patients who were covid 19 affected. We have started Oxygen Concentration Bank to provide support to the patients who required Oxygen Concentration machines. This machine was provided without any charges to poor disabled people.

We have arranged  vaccine drive for people with disabilities, and more than 570 people with disabilities had got first vaccine shot in this vaccination drive. We have also arranged vaccine drive for our staff, volunteers.

Seeing is Believing Project has also made very significant progress during this reporting period. Due to second wave of covid 19, and Govt. guidelines, the outreach camps were not organized. however, we were able to reach out poor people in remote areas through our vision centers. During this period, 24,068 patients attended OPD services, 13213 patients were given spectacles, and 1687 patients were provided free cataract surgeries, and 19 Keretoplasty surgeries were done. Our Bhuj Satelite hospital has also made very good progress, we have now reached to 60 surgeries every week in this satellite hospital.

We have started two more vision centers; one is Matar in Kheda District, and another is in Dholka, Ahmedabad district. These two vision centers have increased our hospital reach, and expanded our coverage.

We are very delighted to share with you that New Comprehensive Eye Care Services will be set up in Bayad, Arravali District in Gujarat. For that, we will construct new hospital in Bayad in association with Vatrak Hospital. The design of upcoming hospital is attached with this report. This hospital will cater services to poor tribal people live in Gujarat and bordering state Rajasthan. We request you to support us in this new venture of hospital.

With this note, I would like to share a very interesting story of Himmatbhai. He had suddenly realized that his vision in left eye somehow affected, was blured. His left eye was red, and watery eyes. He came to our eye hospital for diagnosis and treatment purposes. He was diagnosed Pseudophakic Bullous Keratopathy with gross descements membrane tear was diagnosed. He had two cataract surgeries earlier. He was advised for DESK (Descements Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty). He undergone for this surgery at our hospital, and his vision recover and earlier symptoms like watery eyes and redness in eye is also disappeared. He was so happy with treatment, and thank the donors who sponsored his surgery.

We are again very grateful to you for your support, encouragment that enables us to continue work in difficult time also. We are looking forward for such support and encouragment in future also.

Thanking you.
