What a great achievement indeed!! N H Eye Hospital conducts 10,000 eye surgeries during the year 2011-12. Started with a modest target of 2000 surgeries a year during 2007; after five years, the hospital reaches the target of 10,000 surgeries. The credit for this achievement goes to our valuable donors around the Globe who extended wholehearted support for this purpose. The credit for this achievement also goes to dedicated team of 5 Ophthalmologists; Mr. Dharmednra Jena, Manager of the Hospital and his team of staff members and volunteers.

Encouraged from this achievement, the organization has decided to complete construction of first floor of the hospital  to expand our capacity to 15,000 eye surgeries per annum. The Government of Gujarat has come forward to provide additional equipment for expanding scope of surgeries at the hospital. The PowerGrid Corporation, a leading public sector company in India has extended support for establishing Ratinopathy unit at the hospital. Very soon, the hospital will cater to needs to patients with diabetic ratinopathy and conditions of retina including retina detachment.

Dr Chirag Shah of Calgary in Canada mobilized support for upgrading facilities at the hospital. Thanks to efforts of Mr. Rasik Shah of USA who has been consistently promoting support to hospital among NOn-resident Indians in the USA that we got sponsorship for number of camps in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat, predominantly a tribal belt. The members of Laughing Club of Ashwani Garden on Judges Bungalows road pooled their savings and sponsored more than 200 eye surgeries - the members of the Laughing Club decided to share laughter with those people needing eye surgeries.

Thanks to all our donors who have donated through Global Giving that we could achieve the target of conducting 10,000 surgeries. We are confident that our donors, well wishers and friends would continue providing guidance and support to enable us to reach the target of 15,000 surgeries.

We invite all our donors to pay a visit to our eye hospital at Bareja and our headquarter at Vastrapur in Ahmedabad whenever they happen to be in Gujarat. In the meantime, you are welcome to keep watching our website www.bpaindia.org to observe our latest achievement, our approach to accountability of our activities and our commitment on maintaining transparency of our activities.
