We trust that this email finds you in good health and spirit.
We are glad to share another progress report of Seeing is Believing project that aims to prevent blindness.
You will be glad to know that during the previous quarter the project team of hospital and of the field have worked tirelessly to provide eye care services to the poor and needy people during this period.
The project has extended outreach services in neighbouring state Rajasthan; 39 outreach camps organisedin Dungarpur and 05 outreach camps were organized in Jodhpur, more than 3,000 people received eye care services and 250 received glasses, and 189 people were provided free cataract surgeries.
The team has continued to serve unreached in Gujara; 138 outreach camps were organised more than 5000 people have received eye care services, and 1246 people received the glasses. 1548 patients were provided free cataract surgeries.
In addition to this, the regular OPD Hospital that has covered 1000 patients in previous quarter the 389 patients were provided free cataract surgeries.
The seeing is believing project has also started free Karatoplasty surgeries to poor needy patients. During this reporting periodm, 39 patients have received this services free of cost.
We are glad to share Story of Mangladevi, Mrs Mangladevi is 70 years old lady, came to our Cornea OPD, in Blind people's association managed Porecha Eye Hospital with complain of no vision in her left eye since last 7 years. Her vision in left eye was PL+ and PR accurate to all quadrants. On examination, Left eye Adherent leucoma with cataract, was found.
On detailed history, patient confirmed that she had trauma in left eye long time back for which she took multiple treatment from various hospital but there was no improvement. Then she was refererred to BPA Porecha eye Hospital for the treatment. Patient was not aware about procedure like cornea transplantation which can help the patient to gain back her vision. After detailed examination, counselling and various treatment options, patient got ready for Left Eye Optical Penetrating Keratoplasty with cataractous lens extraction and IOL implantation by open sky technique.
Surgery went successful and the patient is very happy with the outcome going back to her home state with new hopes and determination.
