Inauguration of Eye Hospital

Dear Donors, Well Wishers,

Greetings from the Blind People’s Association!!

We are very grateful to you for your sustained support of our Seeing is Believing Project.

We are so excited and happy to share with you that we have completed the construction of our new multi-specialty eye hospital in Bayad, Aravalli District.

This new eye hospital will have a wide range of eye care services for the poor and needy, tribal rural people of the Arvalli district, and the neighboring state of Rajasthan.

This multispecialty charity-run hospital in Vatrak is the first eye hospital that has facilities for cataract, Keratoplasty, Ratinoplasty, Pediatric eye care, and eye-related treatment in this area.  The hospital has all the latest technology and equipment required for eye care services.

The hospital was inaugurated on 12th August 2023 by Honorable Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Bhai Patel. Now, this Hospital is dedicated to the people of Arvalli and Sabarkantha District. The hospital has started providing services to poor people without or with reasonable charges.

We are glad to share the story of change. Mr. Ajit, age 40 years, came to our Cornea OPD, in Blind People's Association-managed, Porecha Eye Hospital with a complaint of no vision in his left eye with severe watering and pain for 1 month. He had a history of Left eye Acute Conjunctivitis 1 month back for which he was taking eye drops without proper medical guidance, which led to severe corneal infection. His vision in his left eye dropped to hand movement close to his face. On examination, non healing fungal corneal ulcer was diagnosed. The patient was not aware of procedures like cornea transplantation which can help to get back the vision. After a detailed examination, counseling, and various treatment options, the patient got ready for Left eye Therapeutic Keratoplasty. The surgery went successful and the patient is happy as we could save his eye.

During the previous reporting period, 11389 patients have been diagnosed, and 3676 patients have been provided free cataract surgeries.

We aim to conduct 17000 free cataract surgeries free of cost this year. We request you to share this campaign among your friends, and family members and also promote it on social media. We request you donate 30 US$ per month to sponsor one cataract surgery every month. Together we can serve more.

 With Best Regards
