Dear Donors and Well Wishers,
Greetings from BPA India!!
We trust this progress report finds you in Great Health and Spirit.
We are so delighted to inform you that the Seeing is Believing Project has made very good progress in the last quarter. Seeing is Believing project is now a blessing to poor people living in remote areas, also who are unaware of eye-related issues, and cannot afford good quality services.
We are very happy to share that we are moving towards our mission of reaching the unreached. In the previous quarter, we launched a Mobile Eye Care Unit for urban poor communities. We learnt one eye-opening fact while working with urban poor communities. The urban poor are very marginalized and ignored by service providers. On the other hand, they work as daily wage earners and do not have time for health check-ups. They do not have money also for treatment. Considering this as a key area to be served, BPA India has launched a Mobile Eye Care Unit to provide eye care services at the doorstep. The mobile eye care unit is a modified vehicle that requires eye check-up machines. The vehicle has a planned visit schedule in urban areas like slum areas, Taxi Stand, Truckers Lane etc. The eye check-up is done without any charges, and also provided medicines, and eye drops are free of cost. In the previous quarter, more than 1000 people were served through mobile van. We believe this doorstep service will create more awareness of eye-related issues, and people will recognize the worth of eyesight. If any person requires surgery, they are taken to the hospital for free cataract keratoplasty and retinoplasty surgery.
In addition to this, our regular outreach camps were conducted, more than 100 outreach camps were organized and 9000 people received the benefits of outreach camps. 789 people were provided free cataract surgeries.
We have planned to open Vision Center in Kapadwanj, Kheda District and Bhiloda in Sabarkantha district. This will serve as bridge between hospital and community.
