This project will send 350 girls who are vulnerable and victims of early and force marriages back to school this academic year. The project will also provide a holistic education for these girls through scholarships, career mentoring, computer literacy/coding skills etc to help them become phenomenal leaders in the various communities.
In a Ghanaian community, where most people live below the poverty line, girls and women education takes the back seat. Poverty, underdevelopment, mass illiteracy, ignorance and conservatism cause a majority of girls to be deprived of their basic rights to education. Various other social problems such as child marriages, trafficking and discrimination leads towards the undermining of girl's right to education. Limited access to education means many are stuck in poverty.
The project will reduce the number of girls who are not attending school by supporting 350 girls with logistics to enroll or continue their schooling. It will also improve the capacities of these girls through extra curriculum activities to help them effectively respond to issues affecting them and their education.
The project will give access to 350 girls in the Ghanaian deprived communities to become phenomenal. This will help the community to see the worth of a girl child education and help to change the perception of some parents thinking that sending the girl child to early and force marriages is the solution to their poverty. Girls will growth up to take leadership and responsible roles in their communities which will bring about equality and community development.
