Due to the closure of schools in March to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, we have pivoted our programs to reach all the girls in the project and other children within the slum communities of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana to help reduce the loose of educational impact on them.
By using some of the older girls in the project who are also beneficiaries and are currently in the Senior High Schools and Tertiary Institution to engage the girls and children. The project is named Achievers Ghana COVID-19 Home Literacy Project.
Since April 25th, our volunteers have engaged 1500 children in the community and have engaged them in reading and learning activities, and supplying hard copies of books since access to computers and the internet in slums is very challenging.
We have planned to reach 3,000 children before school re-opens but currently on the halfway. There is an urgent need to support the COVID-19 Home Literacy Program. We will need your usual support in our COVID-19 Project.
Thank you so much for your kind support.
