Project Report | Mar 1, 2022
New development at the LAP

Since the last report, students got their first grades. In the firts class, 85% of the students have  agrade above average, 91% in the second year, 91% in the 3rd year and 60% in the 4th year.

Those results are rather good, specially for the first year. New students have to adapt to multiple teachers and to a boarding school environment.

Price of food has increased a lot. Costs of the food for the students has increased 30% in one year. Also parents who are supposed to pay part of the tuition in corn have difficulty to do so. This creates problem to balance our budget. We have already changed the menu in decreasing the number of corn based meals and we will have to send the students back home as soon as the exams are done. We normally keep them one month after the exam to help us cultivate the fields of the LAP and get some computer training.

The gardens are helping us get part of the vegetable for the cooking, but there are more than 300 students at the LAP. We can not produce enough for all the meals.

In order to decrease the use of mais, we have chnaged the breakfast from a maize porridge to a "fonio" (Digitaria exilis) porridge.

We appreciate your support to this project. Please communicate to your network about it, we really need more support.

Thank you.
