1- Addition of a copy machine at the LAP:
The LAP has electricity only via the generator from 6 to 10 PM. In order to take care of the administration we needed electricity also during the day in the office of the LAP.
We have installed solar panels and we can now work on the computers, charge our telephones and power our new copy machine.
This will help all the staff and teachers to perform their adiministration. It will also cut down some costs for copies. The challenge is now to maintain the copier.
2- Modification of the ovens at the kitchen:
We have to cook 3 meals for more than 200 people each day. So far we are using only wood for the cooking. The ovens made originally were not very efficient and the smoke was very bad in the kitchen.
With the help of a mason from Benin, we were able to modify our 3 ovens within 10 days. The main part of the material used was termites ground.
This modification will help us save at least 30% of wood usage. It has also eliminate most of the smoke in the kitchen which is vey good for the health of the cooks.
WE ARE TAKING THIS OPPORTUNITY TO WISH YOU AN HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017.
