A look at the CW 2017 school year
Ruth reports on the Chicuchas Wasi School Year 2017...
"Our objectives set forth at the start of the year were satisfactorily fulfilled, and all 115 girls were promoted to their next grade level. To achieve this our teachers had to work in an extraordinary way, searching for unique strategies to achieve our objectives. Within our special projects, CW maintains its focus on personal development and using the creative arts (like theater and recycling projects) to discover hidden talents, personal expression and self-esteem. CW put out an invitation and a professional theater director from Lima, in Cusco temporarily, volunteered to work with the girls reinforcing our work" -Ruth Uribe, CW School Director
'This year we pushed harder on our reading program with the knowledge that reading is an important tool for life that we are fostering in our girls. Recent visitors from Martin Currie of Scotland were impressed with the reading expansion plan and donated the funds to expand our library to meet the needs of our girls - THANK YOU! We will have a REAL fully supplied library of diverse books soon.' - Ruth & Rae
"October is the month we recognize the achievements with special presentations and awards for the most researched and expressed types of text, involving girls from Kindergarten through 6th grades. Parents were invited to witness the impressive academic achievements of their daughters." Ruth

'We were also visited again by our friend Manuel, a young Peruvian Dietition from SanFrancisco, California, who has been raising funds for our nutritious lunch program. Manuel came back in December to deliver a symbolic check.' - Ruth & Rae THANK YOU MANUEL
Our CW school support program with a professional psychologist has made a big difference to educate parents on how to improve understanding without emotional and physical punishment for a better relationship with their daughters. Parents, CW girls and teachers and all have become much more trusting and open about their problems which enables the girls to relieve the stress in their home reality. Our social worker makes surprise home visits to observe progress or identify if more action is needed. This program has been the much needed help our girls have asked for and now receive. THANK YOU Pamela.
***Our heartfelt THANK YOU ALL from our 115 CW girls***
Muchas Gracias from Ruth & Rae, the Cusco CW team (and California team too)
