THANKS to YOU we had a successful 2018. YOU gave the gift of an education to 123 underserved girls - they KNOW you care about them and THANK YOU with all their hearts.
The month of December every year is best described as hectic. Joyous celebrations of Christmas, and the happy but also sad graduating girls move on to join their older big sisters in high school. The Peru school year ends each December and students begin their summer vacations at home until March 2019.
In spite of the aching hearts the girls feel as they move on after 8 years in the protective arms of the their CW home base, our girls are well prepared and have now joined the older girls who came before them now in high school. Now as new members of the CW Bernadette Alumnae Sisterhood they will receive the emotional support and mentoring that the high school girls (now about 57 alumnae girls) requested from CW in 2017. Going forward all CW grads remain part of the Chicuchas Wasi Family as they continue to grow and develop their futures.
The CW Christmas party is behind us, and all our girls are still floating on the joy of their traditional hot chocolate and panettone sweet bread and like all children this time of year - their Christmas gift. Our students have ended the school year on a happy note and have now gone home to the often difficult reality each girl experiences while at home and is not always easy. Our commitment continues however and all the girls know how to reach the school director Ruth and the CW psychologist Alejandro for emergencies.
Ruth stands between CW's two high achievers and their proud mothers as they receive their diplomas with noted achievements. Also, summer vacation is the time that we do necessary school maintenance and enlist the parents and teachers for special projects.

We stay connected to our girls and to our supporters of the CW family and welcome your visit to the school. To keep up with the operating costs and raise funds, Rae will be leading a tour in the fall of 2019 with Efrain Valles (Peru's award winning Tour Guide) and invite you to join us.
