Clock is ticking..EducateGirls for tax benefit NOW

Only 3 days left to DONATE to get your TAX BENEFIT

The graduating 6th grade students brought in an emotional closing ceremony for Chicuchas Wasi School year 2015, with the school Mayor holding the Peruvian flag for the last time. A bittersweet moment for all those saying goodbye to their beloved school. The Mayor's ceremony to install the new 2016 CW school Mayor by shifting the banner over onto the incoming Mayor in the center of 5th grade photo below.

Only 3 days until we in the USA have to focus on year-end tax time. To donate or not to donate, YES DONATE to educate girls and lower your tax impact. Below is a story Ruth just shared with me showing the CW IMPACT in a most unexpected way. YES we ARE making a BIG DIFFERENCE FOR OUR STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

CW school ended a month early due to the El Nino phenomena that is dumping heavy rain in places where it never rains - like Lima. Fortunately, so far nothing too serious in Lima or in Cusco at the school.

Chicuchas Wasi school for girls is truly blessed. The school impact is felt throughout the community and with our alumni girls who are recognized for their achievements at their new high school.  THANKS TO YOUR support!

                                                *****************

At the start of our 2015 school closing ceremony, there was an unusual event that took place that Ruth shared with me. If you ever wonder if CW is making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, this story will move you.

The final day of school arrived and closing ceremony program was ready to begin when a 5 year old kindergarten student approached one of the teachers to ask if she could please tell her poem. Director Ruth Uribe smiled and nodded yes. Our little student recited her poem that she created in memory since she does not read or write yet. She told of her love for her school and her Professor Ruth and that she was very sad she had to leave. She said no other school would love her like CW or hug her like everyone does at CW or listen to her like they do at her precious school. She was choked up but managed to finish her poem. Director Ruth was deeply moved and when the father came up to her and told her he found a job in the jungle and they had to move. He wanted to thank her for all the help CW has given to his family and they are more united now because of CW parent groups and they know they will not find another school like CW, but their daughter WILL go to school. They understand now that her education is important. Muchas gracias he told Ruth with tears running down his face. Ruth was crying and I am sure the audience was too.

                                                  *******************

Ruth organized the first meeting of the CW alumni sisterhood in her home. No meeting with teenagers is complete without food and laughter and both were present. The CW alumni students told high school stories and gave advice to the new CW grads about the transition from their beloved CW school to a co-ed public high school. This gathering of our alumni students is a new CW program to build alumni sisterhood and allow Ruth to get follow up reports on the girls going forward. Below the girls gather for a group photo after a fun afternoon for all. A BIG SUCCESS!

This is what a visitor had to say:

"I spent a couple of hours at Chicuchas Wasi whilst visiting my daughter in Peru. I used to work for UNICEF UK, so have visited a number of schools in developing countries. I thought this school was a little jewel - the buildings are well designed and maintained, the girls obviously feel both nurtured and celebrated, and the staff are clearly united in their caring attitude and positive philosophy. I was very impressed."  - anonymous professional with expertise in this field.

THANK YOU  for making Chicuchas Wasi School for Girls a success in 2015. YOU did it!
