Chicuchas Wasi teachers are creative...
Chicuchas Wasi teachers are specially trained to focus on empowering poor indigenous girls in a culture that has systematically disempowered girls and women for generations. Unique ways of getting and holding their attention, stretching their abilities with resultant achievements help to build confidence and self-esteem and are part of everyday learning at the CW school for girls.
Our 4 & 5 year old kindergarten girls enter CW school with shyness and a lack of confidence that is quickly overcome with our teaching style and examples from the older girls. Our youngest girls in blue smocks in these photos are explaining to their classmates their Peruvian culture from the images on the board and demonstrate the types of houses or fishing boats used in Peru. With time and much practice they lose the shyness and stand tall and proud of their achievements. In keeping with the recent National Peru Independence from Spain, all classes learn and build a growing awareness of Peruvian history.
We cannot say this enough!
THANK YOU
for 19 years giving education to our girls. YOUR donations have kept our school doors open and education free to 112 girls who otherwise could not attend school at all.
YOU have made a HUGE difference in their futures
*****************************************************
Our school has grown from 13 little girls in a one room school to the 112 girls enrolled in our beautiful full primary school today. This is an amazing feat. We have overcome tremendous resistance from their community, to the active and enthusiastic support and participation from their families and community today. The progress of these girls is visible and spreads out at home, to their siblings, cousins, neighbors and beyond. More girls come to enroll every February now.
WORDS FROM A VISITING UK GROUP...
“Chicuchas Wasi is a fantastic organisation and we wish them all the best. They were introduced to us by our tour guide, Efrain Valles, and we visit the group twice a year now on our tours. The project is doing such incredible work and there is always a sense of joy and enthusiasm from all those involved, not least the girls themselves. We are very privileged to visit the project and we always try to support them whenever we can. Many thanks for the warm welcomes we always receive, it is always one of the highlights of our tours to see the wonderful work being done by your incredible team."
