Exciting history lesson at ancient Machu Picchu ruins...
Chicuchas Wasi school girls were treated to an exciting history lesson with their first time visit to the ancient Inca ruin 'Machu Picchu' by a generous group of California tourists who visited our school and thought the girls should experience first hand the amazing Inca culture that is their heritage. Organizing 112 students to make this full-day journey, this was a very happy big deal :-)
Director Ruth planned two trips splitting in half the number of students to travel at one time. Last Sunday 56 girls began with a sleep over at the school to make the early Monday train to MachuPicchu (MP), requiring teachers and admin at the sleepover, on the train and MP ruin. For most CW students this was their first train ride ever and the excitement was hard to contain. They next arrived to Agua Caliente town and took the switch-back bus to the top of the hill and passed through the gate to enter the MP ruin, their eyes big and mouths wide open they looked upon this magical ancient city with wonder about the people who came before them. What a fantastic history lesson this was!
Without YOUR generous & thoughtful donations we could not offer powerful historical - cultural experiences like this for our girls.

What a university volunteer said:
"This school is doing incredible things for the girls. The students feel so fortunate and proud to go to Chicuchas Wasi, as they know it is a special opportunity that will change their lives. CW focuses on developing the whole student- academics, personal growth, medical services, art, athletics, environmental awareness, and more. I have never seen an organization be more invested in its girls than Chicuchas Wasi!." – KG
