COVID-19 has been devastating to children and families across the globe, including in Ethiopia. Many families are already living in poverty and COVID-19 exacerbates their hardships through the loss of jobs, scarcity of food, and the illness itself. But thanks to your support, we continue to support girls in our program with education, food, clothing- and now protection against Covid-19.
Although we were not able to send the girls to summer camp due to Covid-19, we used this opportunity to teach them- and their families- about ways to stay safe during the pandemic. We had safe, socially distanced sessions with the girls and their families, making sure that they knew how to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their communities. We increased our support for food and household items to ensure that the girls and their families can all stay healthy. If any girl in our program becomes sick, we will make sure she has access to medical care and everything she needs to heal.
The pandemic has been hard on everyone. Thank you for making it a little bit easier for girls in Ethiopia.
