He is 9 years old and originally from Jocotenango He is the youngest of 5 children, and his father works day and night to help his family succeed. He shares that in 2004, because of a bad storm in Guatemala, his family lost all of their belongings when all of their beds, clothes, and food became flooded and ruined. The only thing they were able to salvage were a few pairs of shoes and some clothing.
Thankfully they immediately received help, both from the God’s Child Project and from the Municipal authorities of Jocotenango. They were given shelter for 5 days in a room at the municipal office. After this, the government of Guatemala constructed a home for them in the Aldea de San Chimaltenango. This home provides them with safe living conditions.
The children at this time were still too young to begin school, so the God’s Child Project helped them with clothing, shoes, food supplies, medical help, and other necessities to ensure their health. In 2008 their oldest child began attending our school, and at this time also received the benefit of having a sponsor parent.
Currently, the boy is in 3rd grade, and he is one of the top-performing students in his class. He is very happy to attend school every day where he not only receives education but also nutrition, and his parents are very thankful to have their son attending school. Every day his parents see the progress their son is making with the help of our programs at the God’s Child Project. Help us so we can help others as they grow.
