This project will ensure that 100 girls from slums and streets of Goa, find it comfortable to finish school this year by enrolling them in the local and slums schools. Basic English and Maths skills will be provided to these 100 girls through child centered approach method in the slums. This project will maximize the potential of 100 girls doing well in class and absenteeism will be minimized.
In Goa, some girls from slums and streets who start with lower primary school hardly exit successfully to high school. From Grade IV majority begins to drop out of school. Many get married or abandoned and finally lose interest in going further with education. This ruins their future and holds them captive. Instead meeting, counselling, awareness, exploration, and education, an opportunity will be given to help girls to know their priorities and encourage them to learn and grow.
This project aims to empower 100 girls who are bright and have the potential to further their education to reach Grade VIII and do national exams to open opportunities to join High School. Teachers will be provided training in teaching methodology. The project will provide sanitary pads, textbooks, uniforms, and other learning materials to avoid being lured for lack of the same.
The impact will be the majority of girls from streets and slums who would otherwise have never had any chance to go to school will open up greater opportunities to further their education thus making them capable of providing relevant knowledge and skills, ensuring that they benefit from a full circle of quality education. We aspire to break the circle of exclusion and vulnerability. They will have greater personal power and independence
