Dear Patron,
Educating girls is crucial for individual empowerment and broader societal progress. It has a transformative impact, breaking cycles of poverty, fostering gender equality, improving health outcomes, and contributing to economic growth. Several obstacles prevent girls from pursuing an education. Poverty is huge factor affecting girls education.
El Shaddai Charitable Trust focuses on providing education to slum girls, addressing challenges like access, quality, and retention, while promoting girl child education through awareness campaigns, scholarships, and safe learning environments.
With the El Shaddai Education Programme, 100 girls from slums and streets of Goa, will be able to go to school this year by enrolling them in the El Shaddai schools and slum schools.
We work towards our mission to empower those who have faced adversity, including many slum and street children who have come to Goa seeking a brighter future.
We also distribute educational kits to the slum children which consists of a school bag, stationary, tiffin, water bottle and other school materials. Every child is provided with nutritious midday meals and health check-ups.
With our educational program, many children have benefited and have been able to change their lives for a better one.
We have the story of a girl named Unnati (name changed). While our outreach worker was conducting fieldwork, she noticed a young girl peeking through the school window, completely absorbed in the lesson being taught by the teacher. Our outreach worker approached her and asked her what was she looking through the window, the reply was astonishing she said "I want to go to school and then one day I have to get a job so my family does not have to sleep famished or live on streets. But my parents cannot afford sending me to school" Listening to this outreach worker soon reached out to her parents and informed our shelter Ashadeep in Panjim. Her mother agreed and soon she was admitted in our Shelter.
I could not forget the smile on her face. Her face had lit up with the news that she will finally be go to school now and will be able to change her future.
Knowledge is power, let her bloom like a flower!
We extend our gratitude for all the support and generosity we have received from kind hearted sponsors like you which has enabled us to provide education to 100 slum girls. Your support fuels the dreams of slum girls and paves the way for their education."
With Gratitude,
Sincerely,
El Shaddai Family
