ASAP is supporting 7 nursery schools for school year 2023-2024.
We could not opened the schools in Fina and in Nefrelaye.
In Fina part of the population have left the village due to threats from terrorists. The primamry school is also closed. Based on information we have there might be a chance to have the schools reopened in Janaury 2024.
In Nefrelaye all the villagers have been displaced also due to terrorism. A large percentage of them have settled in the village of Tolotama. It is unclear when the population will be able to go back. Both primary and nursery schools are closed. We are looking at the possibility to open a temporary nursery school in the village of Tolotama.
We know that education is the main tool for development, the fact that those schools are closed is very sad.
However we have been able to open a new nursery school in the village of Sipigui. In the 5 schools opened there are 261 pupils from which 56% are girls.
We sincerely hope that in our next report we will be able to inform you that all the 7 schools are opened.
