Each child attending a nursery school costs 120 US$ per year. These costs includes personnel (50%), food (30%) and others (20%).
As mentionned in our previous report, the fact that most of the costs are funded by foreign subsidies is not sustainable in the long term.
Today parents pay only 7 US$ per year as school fees. We are meeting with the mothers committee of the school to increase this amount to 14 US$ / year for the school year 2026-2027. The acceptance of this incresae will show us the level of motivation of the village for their nursery school.
We are also proposing a project of Orange Flesh Sweet Potatoes (OFSP) to fund the costs of the food for the school. Some of the OSFP will be used in the meal and some will be sold to buy other ingredients.
We have also been able to get some goods for the meal from the ministry of education.
The amount of subsidy to be found per child per year should go down from 113 to 70 US$ by school year 2026-2027.
Your support is still needed and we thank you for it.
