Paper Bridges is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to provide orphans with this much needed love through a letter writing system. We provide hope for children in orphanages by sending them letters, and small gifts to remind them that there are people who care about them. Our letters are written by people of all age groups and walks of life, each full of love and encouragement. We can forge powerful bonds that span across oceans and connect people from different worlds.
There are 1.9 billion children in this world. Kids are the world's future leaders, innovators, and caretakers. Sadly, there are also over 140 million orphans around the world, many of who suffer from a lack of love and emotional support. This lack of love and encouragement often leads to poor results in school and stunted social and emotional development.
Communication is the cornerstone of all human relationships, and it's the goal of our project. By elucidating these means of communication we hope that regular, everyday people can make a superhuman impact on children seas away. A letter may not seem like much, but the impact it has is immense. All it takes to lift up the spirits of a child is the love of a stranger, and through our project we will remind those children that they are loved.
Emotional support in childhood can have a significant impact on a child's development. The joy and happiness in the faces of the orphans is proof of this, and lets us know the impact we are having on them. We can also provide the means for children to study and learn by sending them educational tools and books that orphanages sometimes overlook because they need to focus on the necessities. In the end, the small things do make a difference, and that is what our project is doing.
